Our Leadership
St. Johns Classical Academy was founded by our Board of Directors. It is their mission and vision that shapes and influences the culture and leadership of the school. SJCA is governed by the Board of Directors with support from board committees and its policies are implemented by the Headmaster.
The Board of Directors
The primary function of the Board is to uphold and support the vision, mission and philosophy of SJCA. All decisions will be made in light of the mission, philosophy, goals and objectives of SJCA as stated in the Charter Application. This framework document is a touchstone of all decisions made. The Board must ensure the provision of its quality educational program to all students at the school. Every decision or action taken by the Board must be made in the best interest of all SJCA students – not what is in the interest of the Board, or the staff or the parents. The Board is responsible for providing strategic leadership for the school. It must plan for the long-term operation of the school. The Board is responsible for the oversight and approval of fund-raising, grant requests and direct donations.
The Headmaster
The Principal is the intellectual academic leader of the school with a philosophical understanding of the classical liberal arts education. The Principal implements the curriculum as defined by the classical liberal tradition and is accountable to the Board of Directors. While the primary focus of this role is that of the academic leader, the Principal is also responsible for the oversight of discipline, moral culture, and financial priorities of the school.
